Topic: How molecular EQAs can help pathology laboratories - real world examples
Details: Anca Oniscu (RMH), Jamie Hughes (Barts Hospital) and Jenni Fairley (GenQA) will share practical examples of how external quality assessment (EQA) can improve the quality of molecular pathology testing in routine diagnostic practice. The session will introduce Tissue-i, a tool used to benchmark tumour mark-up for molecular analysis and support greater consistency between laboratories. Speakers will discuss the benefits of taking part in EQA schemes, including improving accuracy, benchmarking performance and supporting continuous learning. Common errors identified through EQA participation will also be highlighted, together with practical ways to reduce them in daily practice. This session will show how EQA helps laboratories maintain high standards, improve consistency and deliver reliable results, ultimately supporting better patient care and stronger confidence in molecular pathology testing.
