Extranodal Lymphomas
2:00 PM - 2:40 PMAbstract
This presentation will discuss aspects that have recently developed around extranodal lymphomas.
Updates in terminology will be discussed particularly in relation to cutaneous marginal zone proliferations.
The recognition that extranodal non-marginal zone B cell lymphomas appear distinct from theil nodal counterparts will be explored.
Finally the concept of divergent differentiation will be discussed particularly in respect to extranodal marginal zone lymphoma.

Lymphoma in Cytology
2:40 PM - 3:05 PMAbstract
Abstract
Cytological examination of lymph nodes and serous effusions is of great value in the diagnosis of lymphoid disorders. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently published a reporting system relating to the cytological examination of lymph nodes, spleen and thymus with the aim to standardise the approach to reporting such specimens.
Diagnosing lymphoid pathology on FNAB is complex and requires specialist expertise. The integration of clinical and imaging data with cytopathological features and ancillary tests is essential. Pre-analytical integration is mandatory before the fine needle biopsy (FNAB). An ultrasound scan, especially in a rapid on site evaluation (ROSE) setting, is helpful in guiding the aspiration but also in providing information similar to the macroscopic examination of surgical excision biopsies.
WHO categories are discussed with few examples of benign and malignant lymphoid disorders on FNABs.
