Food Literacy and professional development possibilities for educators
Abstract
The Food Literacy International Partnership (FLIP) has been exploring the current practices of educators. Within this partnership, the Canadian Hub has been identifying spaces within curriculum that support cross-curricula learning in classrooms from Early Childhood to Grade 12. This undertaking has led us to thinking about ways to enhance support for educators in building their capacity to engage with food literacy within their classrooms.
In this symposium participants will engage with three aspects of the FLIP project: i) examine an overview of the scoping review of curriculum documents and insights into the current version of the model being used; ii) consider one teacher’s experience and learning from how they approached food literacy in their classroom; and iii) have an opportunity to personally explore an approach to professional development using an inquiry model.
