Biography

I am practicing primary care physician and the co-director of the Canada Research Chair in Partnership with Patients and Communities, at Université de Montréal (Canada). I commit my life to discovering and fostering relationships with people, through music, research and care. My practice is driven by curiosity, dialogue and change. Over the past 20 years, my research has focused on how to engage meaningfully with people and communities at different health ecosystem levels. In the past decade, my focus has been on learning from - and caring with - people who overcame significant life challenges such as: homelessness, racism, complex migration journeys, substance use, severe mental illness, chronic conditions and life-threatening illnesses. More recently, I started to explore what we can learn from Indigenous communities and from the Global South to advance community engagement in health.
