Transforming Evidence to Action: A Workshop on Health Incentivization Policies for Prevention-Centered Guidelines

Abstract

Background:
Healthcare systems globally continue to prioritize treatment over prevention, leading to rising costs and increasing burdens of preventable diseases. Evidence-based guidelines often fail to translate into prevention-focused policies due to misaligned incentives across sectors. Rypple's global health ecosystem hub addresses this gap by developing innovative approaches to incentivize prevention through cross-sectoral policy integration.

Objective:
This interactive workshop aims to equip guideline developers and policymakers with practical tools to design and implement health incentivization policies that leverage evidence-based guidelines to shift health systems from treatment to prevention paradigms.
Format (including interactive elements):
The 90-minute workshop will follow Rypple's Policy Action Lab approach:

Knowledge Exchange (20 min): Presentation of case studies where incentive realignment successfully translated guidelines into prevention-focused policies, including Denmark's organic food policy and sugar tax implementations.
Interactive Policy Simulation (40 min): Participants will be divided into multisectoral teams (health, finance, agriculture, education) to use Rypple's Health-ing Assessment Tool to evaluate a sample guideline and design a comprehensive incentivization strategy that addresses implementation barriers across sectors.
Implementation Roadmapping (20 min): Teams will create practical roadmaps for guideline implementation that include:

- Health levies and subsidy mechanisms
- Cross-sector collaboration frameworks
- Impact measurement protocols

Synthesis and Next Steps (10 min): Collective discussion on applying workshop insights to participants' own contexts and establishing a community of practice for ongoing collaboration.

Participants will leave with practical tools for translating evidence-based guidelines into prevention-focused policy actions through strategic incentivization and cross-sectoral partnerships.
