Hall 1C

Overview

If we save a life, we have a duty to make that life as good as possible. Vocal cord dysfunction can have many causes, but the most common is iatrogenic, often following life-saving intervention such as cardiac surgery. Once vocal cord dysfunction is diagnosed, initial focus is on the airway but we must not forget voice and swallow. Every child deserves the right to be heard and to feed. Failure to address these basic human requirements can lead to longstanding health and social issues. We have gathered global experts in this field who have developed their practices to address the fundamental problems of vocal cord dysfunction that impact child development including social and communication issues. In this round table session, we will explore the role of the Multidisciplinary team, techniques to assess voice and swallow and the cutting-edge practices to manage vocal cord dysfunction.
